Tips for inserting lenses
Inserting lenses can be a little tricky at first, but with some practice it becomes easier and easier. On this page you can read the steps you can follow:
6 steps to insert the lenses.
-
Preparing:
Washing and drying your hands: Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before touching your lenses. Dry them with a clean towel or a paper towel.
-
Cleaning:
Make sure to clean the lenses: If your lenses come from a storage case, make sure to clean them thoroughly with lens solution (do not use tap water). -
Grab the lens:
Gently take the lens between your thumb and index finger. Make sure the lens is not inside out. The lens should have a bowl shape, and the edge should not bend outwards. Check this by placing the lens on your finger and looking at the edge – if the edge bends inwards, the lens is good.
-
Open your eyes:
Keep your eye open: Use your other hand to pull your eyelid up (upper eyelid) and pull your lower eyelid down. This ensures that your eye stays wide open.
-
Place the lens in your eye:
Look straight ahead or upwards. Gently place the lens on the white part of your eye, close to the cornea. Slowly bring the lens towards the iris of your eye (the colored part). -
Let go of the lens:
Once the lens is on your eye, slowly release your eyelids. Blink a few times to ensure the lens settles into place properly.
